Hike for Hospice

Please park in the Maine Medical Center parking lot located at 100 Campus Drive, Scarborough. 

Schedule and Start Times

Hike for Hospice will take place at the Hillcrest Community Center located just 1000 feet from the parking lot on Hillcrest Avenue. All participants will be provided with

T-shirts and masks. Participants must pre-register this year to provide a safe and socially distanced event that follows state mandated guidelines. 

Compassion: Registration Time - 9:00AM

Start time 9:30AM


Care: Registration Time - 10:30AM

Start time 11:00AM

Comfort: Registration Time - 12:00PM

Start time 12:30PM


Friend: Registration Time - 1:30PM

Start time 2:00PM

Please note that:

  • Dogs are allowed to participate once they have been registered. They must be on a leash at all times. 

  • We will not be able to offer refunds in the event of inclement weather 

  • Masks or neck buffs will be provided for all participants prior to October 3rd

  • Water and hand sanitizing stations will be located along the routes

  • Bathrooms are located at the Hillcrest Community Center 

  • Participants will pick up colored bracelets denoting start times at the Hillcrest community Center 


1 Mile - Green Route 

The 1 mile route begins at the Hillcrest Community Center and takes participants for a scenic walk through the neighborhood. Begin at Hillcrest Avenue, move onto Desfosses Avenue, and follow Butternut Lane back to the community Center. Follow the green line on the trail map!

5k - Blue Route 

The 5k route begins at the Hillcrest Community Center and takes participants on a walk through the neighborhoods, onto the Eastern Trail and back to the community center. Follow the blue line on the trail map!

Virtual Hike

Participate in a virtual hike in support of Hospice of Southern Maine! With a virtual hike, you choose the location, time and distance of your walk. 

Here are a few ideas for your virtual hike:

  • Walk 2,000 (1-mile) or 3,937 (5K) steps on your favorite beach 

  • Join a friend and walk your favorite route... socially distanced of course!

  • Walk on your treadmill, ride a stationary bike, or hop on your rowing machine and record your distance

  • Don't forget Fido! Walk with your pet in their favorite spot

Get creative and share your experience by posting photo and video to your personal fundraising page. Make each step count and share your experience with everyone! 

This is your chance to Hike for Hospice on your very own route. The opportunity to fund raise and participate virtually has been extended to October 31, 2020.
