Event Details

Hospice of Southern Maine invites you to participate in our third annual Hike for Hospice. If you’re interested in getting outside, having some fun, and supporting an important cause, this event is for you! Meet us on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at our Hospice Center, 390 Route One in Scarborough, to walk as a community and show your support for hospice. You may choose to walk in memory of a loved one, or to honor someone special in your life. No matter who or what inspires your walk, your participation will support Hospice of Southern Maine’s mission to provide compassionate, comfort-focused care to patients and their loved ones at the end of life.

There are multiple ways to get involved and join the fun!

In-Person Walk

Join us on Saturday, October 15, 2022 to Hike for Hospice together. All walkers will meet at HSM's Hospice Center, located at 390 US Route One in Scarborough, and walk from there to connect with the Eastern Trail. Registration check-in and t-shirt pick-up will open at 8:30am. A brief program of welcoming remarks and prize announcements will start at 9 with the walk to begin soon after.

Route Options

From our campus at 390 US Route One, walkers will turn left onto Lincoln Avenue to Washington Avenue, then left on Washington Avenue to the Eastern Trail connector at the Scarborough Town Public Works, then right onto the Eastern Trail and follow that until they reach Pine Point Road (Rt. 9). From the Hospice Center to Pine Point Road is approximately 2.25 miles. From there, walkers can either take a shuttle back to the Hospice Center or walk back along the same route for a total walk of 4.5 miles.

Please be assured that during the event, Lincoln Avenue will be one lane/one way traffic between the Hospice Center and Washington Avenue with police officers on site to enforce traffic patterns and ensure safety for all.

Virtual Walk

In keeping with the tradition of the past two years, we invite you to Hike for Hospice however you feel most comfortable. Participating virtually means you can walk whenever you'd like through October 31, 2022, and you can choose your own route! You may choose to participate virtually and still attend our in-person walk on October 15th! No matter what, you're supporting a great cause and your support makes all the difference.

If you do not plan to attend the in-person event, please come to the Hospice Center anytime in October to pick up your Hike for Hospice t-shirt!

Get creative and share your virtual experience by posting photos and videos to your personal fundraising page and uploading them to the Hike for Hospice Facebook group. Don't have Facebook? No problem! Email your photos and videos to give@hospiceofsouthernmaine.org. Make each step count and share your Hike for Hospice with everyone!

Walk individually, or gather your friends, family, and co-workers and walk as a team! Either way, your efforts will support Hospice of Southern Maine.

Registration fee: $25
