If you’re interested in getting outside, having some fun, and supporting an important cause, Hike for Hospice is for you!
Meet us on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at our Hospice Center in Scarborough to walk as a community and show your support for hospice. You may choose to walk in memory of a loved one, or to honor someone special in your life. No matter who or what inspires your walk, your participation will raise awareness and funds for patient and family care at end of life.
Registration costs $25. There are multiple ways to get involved and join the fun!
Join us on Saturday, October 14, 2023 to Hike for Hospice together. All walkers will meet at HSM's Hospice Center, located at 390 US Route One in Scarborough, and walk from there to connect with the Eastern Trail. In addition to the walk, there will be music, donuts and coffee, kids' activities, and lots of community spirit!
Schedule of the Day:
8:30am - Registration check-in and t-shirt pick-up open
9:00am - Welcoming remarks and prize announcements
9:15am - Walk begins
12:00pm - Event ends
Get ready to see some foliage! From our campus at 390 US Route One, walkers will turn left onto Lincoln Avenue to Washington Avenue, then left on Washington Avenue to the Eastern Trail connector at the Scarborough Town Public Works, then right onto the Eastern Trail and follow that until they reach Pine Point Road (Rt. 9). From the Hospice Center to Pine Point Road is approximately 2.25 miles. From there, walkers can either take a shuttle back to the Hospice Center or walk back along the same route for a total walk of 4.5 miles.
Please be assured that during the event, Lincoln Avenue will be one lane/one way traffic between the Hospice Center and Washington Avenue with police officers on site to enforce traffic patterns and ensure safety for all.
All Hike for Hospice participants should park in HSM's Hospice Center parking lot, located at 390 US Route One in Scarborough. We ask that you enter from Route One and exit via Lincoln Avenue. Carpooling is encouraged! Volunteers will be on site to assist on event day.
In keeping with the tradition of the past three years, we invite you to Hike for Hospice however you feel most comfortable. Participating virtually means you can walk whenever you'd like through October 31, 2023, and you can choose your own route! You may choose to participate virtually and still attend our in-person walk on October 14th. No matter what, you're supporting a great cause and your support makes all the difference.
Get creative and share your virtual experience by posting photos and videos to your personal fundraising page and uploading them to the Hike for Hospice Facebook group. Don't have Facebook? No problem! Email your photos and videos to email@example.com. Make each step count and share your Hike for Hospice with everyone!
Walk individually, or gather your friends, family, and co-workers and walk as a team! Either way, your efforts will support Hospice of Southern Maine.
Registration fee: $25
