Have fun while making a difference!

Hike for Hospice is a walk fundraiser, open to the community, to support Hospice of Southern Maine’s nonprofit mission to provide compassion, care, and comfort through the end of life for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

 

Come join us for a beautiful autumn walk starting at our Hospice Center in Scarborough and connecting with the Eastern Trail. There will be music, Holy Donuts, prizes, a kids' scavenger hunt, lawn games, local partner-provided food and beer, and lots of community spirit as we walk the 2.25 or 4.5-mile routes. To see the available prizes visit our fundraising page here. Together, we can make each step count and raise awareness and funds for hospice care in southern Maine. Children and leashed dogs are welcome!

Hospice of Southern Maine cares for nearly 2,000 patients and their loved ones at home and at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House every year. Since its inception, Hike for Hospice has raised more than $300,000 to support this care.

At Hospice of Southern Maine, our mission is to provide compassion, care and comfort through end of life to terminally-ill patients and their families. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, grief counselors, and volunteers wherever the patient resides, whether that is their home, assisted living facility, or hospital. If a person's condition can no longer be managed at home, they may be moved to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, our 18-bed inpatient hospice facility, to receive around-the-clock care. Unlike most other hospice programs, we offer free grief counseling to all members of the community, regardless of whether their loved one died in our care. HSM serves any terminally-ill adult in need of hospice services, regardless of their personal resources, Medicare or Medicaid status, or lack of private insurance.
