Event Details

Hospice of Southern Maine invites you to participate in our second annual Hike for Hospice. If you’re interested in getting outside, having some fun, and supporting a worthy cause, this event is for you! Walk with us in person on October 26, 2024 or participate virtually anytime between now and October 31, 2024. You may choose to walk in remembrance of a loved one who has been touched by hospice, or to honor someone special in your life. No matter who or what inspires your walk, your participation will support Hospice of Southern Maine’s mission to provide compassionate, comfort-focused care to patients and their loved ones at the end of life.

There are multiple ways to get involved and join the fun!

In-Person Walk

Join us in person on Saturday, October 24, 2024 to Hike for Hospice together. In-person participants will meet at HSM’s Hospice Center, located at 390 US Route One in Scarborough, and walk from there to connect with the Eastern Trail. Check-in begins at 9:00am and we’ll start walking at 9:45am. Stay tuned for more detailed route information, coming soon!

Virtual Hike

Whether it's for safety reasons, time constraints, or just because, we invite you to participate in Hike for Hospice virtually. Participating virtually means you can walk, bike, hike, or do another activity of your choosing wherever and whenever you'd like through October 31, 2021. You choose the route, pace, and distance that's best for you while supporting a great cause.

Get creative and share your virtual experience by posting photos and videos to your personal fundraising page and uploading them to the Hike for Hospice Facebook group. Don't have Facebook? No problem! Email your photos and videos to give@hospiceofsouthernmaine.org. Make each step count and share your Hike for Hospice with everyone!

Walk individually, or gather your friends, family, and all your co-workers and walk as a team. Either way, your efforts will support Hospice of Southern Maine!

At Hospice of Southern Maine, our mission is to provide compassion, care and comfort through end of life to terminally-ill patients and their families. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, grief counselors, and volunteers wherever the patient resides, whether that is their home, assisted living facility, or hospital. If a person's condition can no longer be managed at home, they may be moved to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, our 18-bed inpatient hospice facility, to receive around-the-clock care. Unlike most other hospice programs, we offer free grief counseling to all members of the community, regardless of whether their loved one died in our care. HSM serves any terminally-ill adult in need of hospice services, regardless of their personal resources, Medicare or Medicaid status, or lack of private insurance. Call us today to learn whether hospice is right for you and your family.
